this month sees the launch of newly formed label rm records. rmr has been put together by dj and production trio longplay who say that the label will serve not only as a platform for their own productions, but alex agore / james dexter / longplay / m.a.x & lloyd rmr001 also to showcase up and coming talent along with established acts from around the world. the excellent first release features tracks from longplay, m.a.x. & lloyd, james dexter and the mysterious figure that is alex agore.

paris-born, tokyo-raised, new york-based international eclectic french dj, music producer and sound designer alex from tokyo is very excited to announce the october 2015 launch of his record label world famous with a new tokyo black star ep (the first release in three years)!

emex is the emergent techno act of george apergis and alex retsis, powered by korg synthesizers. inspired by mathematics and digital electronics, already supported by marcel dettmann, truncate, drumcell, jonas kopp, bas mooy, pfirter, lag and many others. their debut ep is a conceptual fusion of dancefloor techno with atmospheric overtones, first track 00110001 is a minimal opener with pounding chords and detroit style influences, second track 00110010 progresses into darker territories while the fundamental grooves become infused with moody flavors and third track 00110011 transpires from harder realms, concluding the release with its almost acidic basslines and trippy arpeggios.

capital bass continues to gather russian names under one roof and expand stylistic variations. next big thing is a three-track ep from ponty mython (alex). this is the second ep by sir ponty mython on capital bass. it has been two years since his bulletproof jesus ep in 2013. during these two years ponty mython has been working with such iconic house imprints as arma, quintessentials, dirt crew and others. his new adverbs ep is a quite eclectic thing. side a is a filtered house banger gracefully - a result of sampling games with moscow house star lay-far (local talk, in-beat-ween). side b - afterwards tune is a real one-loop thriller, dirty and raw, with african samples and invisible sub bass line. on b side you can also find a psychedelic version of afterwards by saint petersburg techno artist nocow (roots united, fauxpas musik). arma continues to translate the clubs unparalleled experience into vinyl format. 10th release from the label features benjamin brunns track *gamma delta epsilon* followed with two remixes by steve summers and alex danilov. in the original version brunn merges techno and futuristic house patterns into beautiful grotesque rhythm construction. both retakes show authors at their best: alex danilov creates a deep cosmic mood slowing down the tempo and adding dreamlike poetic chords, steve summers boils track down to laconic strong-beat narrative. the record comes in cover that features original painting by pavlik kuznetsov.

james ross is a guitarist and composer living in brooklyn, n.y. originally from pittsburgh, pa., he has studied guitar at the university of pittsburgh and the mannes college of music in new york city. he has studied sitar with pandit krishna bhatt, and north indian classical music and composition with la monte young and marian zazeela. a composer in a variety of genres, james has written music for orchestral and chamber ensembles, as well as solo music for the guitar and the zhongruan (a type of chinese lute). he has also performed and recorded electronic and improvised music. recent performances as a composer and performer on the electric guitar, laptop and other instruments include sets at the bell house, at the small beast at the delancey with percussionist joseph benzola, a performance with kyle bobby dunn at issue project room, at pianos with richard lainhart, at glasslands gallery with michael vincent waller, at goodbye blue monday with david beardsley, providing live music for katherine liberovskaya and ursula scherrer’s optosonic tea series at diapason gallery in brooklyn, with video artist alex carpenter at the tank in manhattan, and at damrosch park at lincoln center as part of the guitar ensemble for rhys chatham’s “a crimson grail.” a recording of the -crimson grail- performance was released on nonesuch records on sept. 14, 2010. as a classical guitarist, james has performed as a soloist and ensemble player throughout the northeastern united states. he received a solo recitalist fellowship in 1992 from the pennsylvania council on the arts and won the 1993 mannes college of music concerto competition, resulting in a performance of joaquin rodrigo’s “fantasia para gentilhombre,” at symphony space in new york city.

punctual is a stripped back, bleepy warehouse machine that hits hard but is versatile and funky. remix duties are taken care of by alex under from spain. after patrick s 12 on alex s cmyk musik it was time to invite alex into his community and alex delivered big time. alex refines the main ideas in the track, boiling it down to a solid groove and adding a killer bass riff that sounds like it was meant to be there all along.

blue mondays is a project of alex ferrazzi and keemani. both vinyl collectors and involved within the italian underground scene from the beginning of the early 2000s, they grew up cultivating different backgrounds, alex was always into disco and old school house music while keemani was more into new wave and rock vibes. merging their backgrounds inside the studio, they come to you with a dance floor oriented sound spanning nu disco to techno, based on dope beats, smoked out samples, deep basslines, and uplifting vibes.

having previously used their dnuos ytivil offshoot to release material from their nearest and dearest (think batu, bruce, hodge and alex coulton), bristols livity sound crew turns to unknown french producer simo cell. the two tracks showcased here are a rather fine introduction to this newcomer, with opener *piste jaune* offering a clandestine blend of stuttering electro bass, discordant analogue percussion hits and spooky electronics. the mystery man goes for the jugular on *cellar door*, with pitched-down, bleep style melodies and liquid electronics riding an off-kilter, broken techno groove. another fine livity release.

our latest release mila, its not over comes from the mysterious ponty mython (alex). with roots in st. petersburg, he now sends us his latest intricately produced works from his studio in vilnius, lithuania. alex joined the dirt crew family last year, adding his excellent artist name and ear for exotic samples to our ‘deep love 10 compilation with his track ‘movin on. first up on this new release is ‘face down, a cross-continental collaboration with tijuana based tastemaker sebastien vorhaus.

on their launch last september, australian label analogue attic promised to showcase the gentle side of electronic music down under. theyre as good as their word on this second release, which comes from rory mcpike under his rings around saturn alias. operating on a similar plane to the tactile, picturesque soundscapes of lord of the isles more spacey work, both erosion and portion 22 offer dreamy chords, becalmed melodies and sparse, spaced-out rhythms. there are a few sly winks towards vintage ambient house throughout, particularly on gypsy village, a luscious combination of liquid melodies and eyes-closed hypnotism. label bosses sean la brooy and alex albrecht go further towards vintage ambient territory on their sublime bathtime arrangement of portion 22.

ednic is the italian duo of nicola di gabbia and edoardo cortopassi, and by all intents and purposes, they’re an outfit that’s on to a good thing right now. the guys make quality, analog-enriched house and techno, the likes of which comes to the fore here on puas puas, a vinyl only label that’s already featured the likes of the mole, alex piccini and carola pisaturo amongst others. first up on the exceptionally refined strands of the auberste ep sis the sounds of the original, which is a barnstorming cacophony of acid flourishes and tension-filled motifs. a track that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat for some time, it features shades of old-school electro and techno, and is the sort of track that’ll definitely rescue any ailing dancefloor. the aforementioned carola pisaturo then perks up with the first of her two remixes courtesy of her brilliant ‘church’ mix. a bumping and grinding interpretation on the original, it too keeps the suspense high, most notably thanks to a dizzying array of melodies and a series of potent basslines. her ‘botta’ remix is a more stripped back affair, albeit one that still speaks to fans of discerning fare thanks to its relentless attitude. full of shiny percussion and the odd sultry vocal smidgen, it’s further indication of a producer who looks set to enjoy an excellent 2015. this is classy stuff indeed from the puas puas label.

there are two front-cover artworks on one record: one by stefan marx, one by alex solman info: back in 2012, benjamin brunn played a heartbreaking ambient liveset at the almighty golden pudel club, hamburg. his set was recorded and released as a cd on pudel produkte. as it was the perfect soundtrack for the lazy days at smallville recordstore, we all felt the urge to release this on vinyl- and during a blurry smallville night at pudel, we decided to do it. benjamin cut out two parts of 20 minutes each and here it is as a limited recordstore day 2015 item. there are 2 front covers on this fullcover sleeve- one from stefan marx and one from alex c.i.a solman, the king of pudel-related artworks and mfoc.
